VHP seeks anti-conversion law in Jharkhand

RANCHI: After a large number of tribals reportedly converted to Christianity in Jharkhand’s Gumla district, the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) has sought an anti-conversion law in the state.

“Anti conversion law should be formulated in Jharkhand. Christian missionaries are silently working on their agenda, converting tribals,” VHP leader Pramod Mishra told IANS.

“In the last 15 days, over 300 people belonging to Asur, one of the nine primitive tribes, have been converted to Christianity,” he added.

Unethical Practices : Hijacking Buddhist Architecture and Projecting as Christian! by Shenali D. Waduge

Four hundered and fifty (450) years of foreign invasion & occupation, 133 years of British rule cannot replace 2300 years of Sinhala Buddhist rule but they keep trying and gaining ground too. 67 years of post-independence where former colonies remain tied to and enslaved by colonial systems cannot be allowed to continue the hidden objective of removing the Sinhala Buddhist identity and denationalizing the people to facilitate foreign agendas that aspire to replace our historic culture, heritage, religion with theirs in a carefully hidden program being implemented across all former colonies still.

We need to realize and address the covert and over attempts to systematically change Sri Lanka’s identity of 2300 years of Buddhist governance following dasa raja dhamma ethics and ethical livelihood which even Indian invaders followed and the legacy of heritage, culture and irrigation marvels that continue to baffle modern day engineers.

That the objective of Western colonials was to replace Buddhism with Christian rule is evident by the manner Portuguese, Dutch and British went on a systematic campaign to kill Sinhalese, destroy Buddhist architecture, heritage and eventually resorted to converting Buddhists dividing them into Christians/Catholics. In short the objective of Western colonial rulers was to break the national identity and to do that it was necessary to divide or destroy the Sinhala Buddhists.

The same was done to Hindus of India. The historical colonial injustices remain unapologized, unaccounted and not even compensated while post-independence injustices are being carefully camouflaged.

It is on the virtue of the 2300 years of Buddhist governance that even when the Sinhale nation was ceded by traitors to the British in 1815 the Kandyan Convention assured to protect the placed of Buddhism. Article 9 of Sri Lanka’s Constitution is merely a continuation of the 2300years Buddhist governance that prevailed. It is nothing that anyone can make objections to and nothing they should try to change and successive governments whatever their personal or party ideologies are should not be allowed to legally/constitutionally change this historical identity and replace it with another!

Attempts have been made through traitors of Sri Lanka to even change the place given historically to Buddhism. Sri Lanka’s Constitution has a separate chapter (2) Article 9 that declares “The Republic of Sri Lanka shall give to Buddhism the foremost place and accordingly it shall be the duty of the State to protect and foster the Buddha Sasana while assuring to all religions the rights granted by Articles 10 and 14(1) (e).

The Abrahamic religions continue to flirt with local traitors to dilute the place of Buddhism in an effort that remains enshrined in their mission/vision & objectives whatever they say otherwise. Massive funds are allocated for this effort that the Sinhala Buddhists or even Tamil Hindus can only match by awareness. The introduction of liberal notion multiculturalism is meant to declare all religions/cultures/history as equal when it is not so. It is nations that do not have a culture/heritage or history that jumps on the bandwagon to gain via modern liberal movements what they historically do not possess.

The manner in which historical architecture has become victim goes to show a sinister plan to remove historical artefacts/evidence and slowly adopt Abrahamic symbols into whatever ancient architecture remains. The grand plan is to replace historical Buddhist architecture and identify it with Abrahamic and change historical records completely because even the education system denies students their right to know what really took place in the past and students are shown a history that craftily denies and omits the crimes of the Abrahamic religions and their leaders upon Third World nations.

The example to elucidate the manner in which a subtle attempt is being made to hijack Buddhist architecture can be seen on the postage stamp issued by the Sri Lanka Post on 13 January 2015 to commemorate the visit of the Pope.

The stamp shows a Buddhist Dagoba with a Christian cross. Anyone not aware of Sri Lanka’s Buddhist past would think that the structure is Christian. The immediate defense would be to say we are jumping to conclusions making mountains out of molehills…read further to see if we ignored bringing these aspects to light what would eventually happen to the Vedic religions presently being targeted!

Moreover is there no one in the postal department that questioned why a Buddhist symbol should be projected alongside a Pope? The Dagoba has nothing to do with the Church or the Pope. Why has the Buddhist Sangha or Buddhist organizations not objected? The lack of objections inspires these mischief makers to continue to obliterate history and with time people will begin to accept Buddhist architecture as equivalent to Christian/Catholicism (which is what the ultimate objective is) Otherwise why should Christian Sunday Schools be also referred to as Dhamma (Both Christians and Islam are using this word) The immediate defence when questioned is to say that it is on the gesture of peaceful coexistence and the much battered word ‘reconciliation’!

What is obviously happening is what the Portuguese, Dutch, the British and the Church could not do directly they are getting the local traitors to agree to do – the examples of what is taking place in East Timor, South Korea and even India suffices for the need to oppose and point out the wrongs taking place.

Church uses the process of inculturation with an aim to adopt Vedic (Buddhist & Hindu) cultural practices to confuse, corrupt and change the minds of the gullible masses.

Some examples :
Singapore Hindus object to Hijacking of Pongal by Christians (2004) – Hindu Press International states “The adoption of Pongal by the Christians is part of their tactic of “inculturation,” including various aspects of the local religion in the hopes of getting Christianity to appear less foreign”
2006 article titled ‘Christians trying to hijack Yoga’.
Missionaries trying to hijack Bharatanatyam – Fr Saju George Moolamthuvuthil, a Jesuit priest’s mission was fuse Hindu dance Bharatanatyam with ABRAHMIC RELIGION of crusaders and inquisition
Pagan Festivals stolen by Christians
Christian missionaries target every single component of Hindu society http://www.hindujagruti.org/news/36329.html
Just like some Buddhist priests have been bought over in India some Hindu sadhus started ‘Christian Brahmin Seva Samiti’ to distort Hindu scriptures to advance Christianity and now runs Agni Ministry which converts people under the guise of education & health.
DMK government inaugurated a government sponsored festival named “Sangamam” conceived by a Christian NGO by name Tamil Maiyam founded by Father Jegath Gaspar Raj (main link to LTTE) and Karunanidhi’s daughter Kanimozhi. http://www.asiantribune.com/index.php?q=node/4959
Evangelists like Sadhu Chellappa are Christianising festivals like Deepavali
evangelists masquerade as “Sadhus and Sanyasis”,
Roman Catholic Church came out with a ‘New Community Bible’ christened as the “Indian Bible,” which included sacred verses from the Ithihasas, Gita, Vedas and Upanishads. This Bible depicted Virgin Mary barefoot, wearing a sari and sporting a bindi on her forehead, a naked baby Jesus on one shoulder, standing beside Joseph clad in loincloth and turban. It was released in June 2008. It was approved by the Catholic Bishops Conference of India and the Vatican blessed the initiative that was conceived in the 1980s.
Church has started setting up Hindu “type” of buildings and calling them as ‘Ashrams’ controlled by ‘Saffron robed’ Padres, projecting themselves as ‘Swamijis’.
Hindu style of architecture, construction, layout and interior designs are being followed. The buildings also have the Sanskrit ‘Om’ symbol in front of them and the saffronised Padres claim that Om is not Hindu, but Vedic!
Christian missionary schools have been found guilty of attempting to denigrate Buddhism – a playschool had presented two boxes for the children to open. The first box with a photo of Jesus was full of sweets. The second box had only a photo of Buddha – the message conveyed to these childrens minds was that Christianity had sweet things to offer, Buddhism had nothing.
Church has adopted every Hindu practice and the only thing left is the replacement of ‘Hindu Murthis’ with Jesus and Mary statues, which is most likely to happen anytime if this inculturation continues
Some Churches also sculpture the statues of Jesus in ‘meditating’ posture, Jesus sitting cross-legged on a lotus with ‘Abaya Hastha Mudra’,

An Indian commentator writes “Every Hindu symbol and every Hindu practice is being Christianised with an evil motive of de-Hinduising this society and the nation. This is creating havoc in the psyche of the Hindu majority provoking it beyond the limits of tolerance. Obviously the generic Church is scoring brownie points over the privilege of “propagation” given to the minorities in the Constitution.”

Swords have been replaced by a more sophisticated conquest and force is used only when victory is assured. India needs to be scared of not China’s pearls but the Christian pearls slowly surrounding it. If we blame Christian oriented Sinhala leaders India will no doubt join in to rebuke Nehru’s condemnation for Hinduism. If India’s Congress is under Christian agents the same can be said of UNP tied to the International Democratic Union of which Ranil W is the head of Asia.
The West exercises huge influence over both India & Sri Lanka through Christian missionaries and Christian NGOs who work as their agents. India recently packed off close to 5000 NGOs most of which were foreign-linked. Both India and Sri Lanka suffer from a Christianized English media and academia who decide and determine public discourse. Conversions have resulted in recent converts hostile to Hindus in India and Buddhists in Sri Lanka and brainwashed to be anti-national. Attempts to mislead census statistics has been made in India where converted Hindus are asked to register as Hindus to avert shock at the scale of conversions. We must wonder if the same tactic has been adopted in Sri Lanka. It is believed that next to the Indian government, the Churches are the biggest landowners in India! That is shocking news! Churches work hand in glove with foreign intelligence agencies and via NGO research organizations they build up the data to decide on how to change the demography.

How would you rate the British ambassador in Nepal declaring that Nepal would turn into a Christian country! Why Nepal of all countries! It is because the West wishes to create a Christian bastion on the Nepal-Tibet border, a step closer to China (Nepal is to be divided into 8 federal states too), just how Kosovo independence was to create a NATO military base, a step closer to Russia!

If India’s Hindus are claiming existential fears, Sri Lanka’s Sinhala Buddhist majority has every right to fear the same. It is not only the American & European Governments that are exerting pressures but they are using the Churches which they fund and control to exert pressure in indirect ways and use the people’s backing to ban conversions and bring penalties for engaging in proselytization.
We must wake up. We yearn for Buddhist leaders of the caliber of Prof. Gunapala Malalsekera & L H Mettananda. Just as the Buddhist Commission of Inquiry recorded the historical injustices in 1954 after probing the entire country and finally presented in 1956. The culmination of this and SWRD Bandaranaike embracing its proposals led to the Maha Sangha under banner of Eksath Bhikkshu Peramuna to back the Bandaranaike led MEP incorporating the slogan Pancha Maha Balavega (Sangha, Veda, Guru, Govi, Kamkaru) the election results left UNP with just eight seats. It was not the ‘Sinhala Only’ that the Buddhists sought but the rectification of historical injustices and the reversal of discriminations suffered by the Sinhalese Buddhists.

Can the Buddhist Organizations justify their existence if they cannot issue a single statement, objection against the incursions taking place to Buddhism.

Parents Arrested After 19-Year-Old Dies in Church ‘Counseling Session’

NEW HARTFORD, N.Y. (AP) – Two teenage brothers were brutally beaten in church – one of them fatally – in an effort by their parents, sister and other members of the congregation to force them to confess their sins and seek forgiveness, police said Wednesday.
Police Chief Michael Inserra said investigators are still looking into what the supposed sins were.
Lucas and Christopher Leonard, 19 and 17, were pounded with fists Sunday at the Word of Life Church when a “counseling session” meant to explore their spiritual state turned violent, Inserra said. They were beaten in the abdomen, genitals, back and thighs, authorities said.
Lucas died and his brother was hospitalized in serious condition. Six church members – including the brothers’ parents and sister – have been arrested.
“Both brothers were subjected to physical punishment over the course of several hours, in hopes that each would confess to prior sins and ask for forgiveness,” Inserra said.

The parents, Bruce and Deborah Leonard, were charged with manslaughter in Lucas’ death. Four other adults were charged with assault in the younger brother’s beating, including Sarah Ferguson, 33, the victims’ sister. All have pleaded not guilty.

Lawyers for the parents and the sister had no comment. Contact information for the other defendants’ attorneys wasn’t immediately available.

The church is a former elementary school where a Christian congregation has worshipped for as many as 30 years.

Neighbors in the once-thriving mill town of 22,000 people about 50 miles east of Syracuse said the congregation’s secretive ways made them suspicious.

“I’m really afraid. In my heart I don’t think this is the first incident,” said Eva Monaghan, who lives around the corner from the church. “Over all the years, I can’t imagine this is the first thing. Maybe nothing as bad. Around town, it’s considered a cult.”

Police said more arrests are expected as the investigation continues.

WHY IS POPE FRANCIS VISITING BUDDHIST SRI LANKA – A HIDDEN AGENDA?

Pope Francis is due to make a three-day visit to Buddhist-majority Sri Lanka with the highlight of the visit being the canonization of Joseph Vaz, an Indian born 17th century Catholic missionary who spent most of his life in Sri Lanka to help Catholics persecuted by the island’s Dutch rulers at the time.
The canonization and Pope Francis’s second visit to an Asian country has created much controversy, which fortunately for the Vatican, has been drowned out by the intensity of the presidential election campaign in Sri Lanka. The election is scheduled for January 8, just five days before Pope’s scheduled arrival in the island on January 13.
About 70 percent of the Sri Lankan population is Buddhists, while the Catholics account for just 6 percent. But, they are a powerful minority that is well connected to international Catholic networks.
The haste at which The Vatican in close collaboration with the local Catholic Archbishop Cardinal Malcolm Ranjith, has arranged this visit setting aside many protocols and by-laws from Rome has added to Buddhist suspicions that this visit is designed to promote proselyting activities not only in Sri Lanka but also in the South Asian region. The Catholic Church however claims the visit is for promoting reconciliation and religious harmony in Sri Lanka.
The AP news agency reported in September that Pope Francis has bent Vatican protocols bypassing the usual requirement that a second miracle needs to be confirmed before a canonization. The Pope has bent the rules in the case of Vaz, to make him the first indigenous South Asian saint next month.
Another Vatican principle that has been breached by the visit is the requirement that a Pope should not visit a country a month on either side of a national election. The local Catholic Church hierarchy did appeal to the government not to call a presidential election in January. But, President Mahinda Rajapakse preferred to take his astrologer’s advice and fixed the date for January 8. Both Cardinal Ranjith and The Vatican have ignored the requirement.
Vaz was born in the southern Indian state of Goa in 1651 and as a priest he founded the Oratory of the Holy Cross of Miracles in Goa. He chose to work in Sri Lanka to help fellow Catholics persecuted by the Dutch colonial rulers, who were Protestant Christians.
In April 2014, the US-based Joseph Naik Vaz Institute in a petition to Pope Francis calling for Vaz’s cananonzation described him as a “missionary who made conversions and re-built an entire Church in Asia without the use of arms, or political and economic incentives” and pointed out that he is not an European, but, an Indian.
In fact, the Dutch were invited to the island by the King of Sri Lanka in the 17th century, when almost 150 years of Portuguese Catholic domination of the western coastal areas of Sri Lanka had had a devastating impact on the Sinhalese people and their religious practices.
Atrocities Committed by the Portuguese
Sociologist and historian Dr Susatha Goonatilake, in his book ‘A 16th Century Clash of Civilizations’ has documented in detail the atrocities committed by the Portuguese armies and their Catholic missionaries.
“Temples were burned or turned into Christian churches and valuable local texts were destroyed; local dresses and musical instruments were banned, children were taken from non-Christian parents and were forcibly baptized,” he noted.
“Every stage of their progress was marked by a rapacity, bigotry, cruelty and inhumanity unparalleled in the annals of any other European colonial power,” argued renowned Buddhist scholar Dr. G.P. Malalasekare in his book ‘The Pali Literature of Ceylon’.
Buddhism has existed in Sri Lanka since 3rd century BCE, and in the 1st Century BCE the Buddhist cannon ‘Tripitaka’ was written in Pali at Aluvihara in Sri Lanka. This document was instrumental in the spread of Theravada Buddhism to Southeast Asia.
The Portuguese who controlled the western coastal areas of the island between 1505 and 1658 did the utmost to wipe out Buddhism from the island, which they regarded as pagan beliefs. Fired by their missionary zeal, Portuguese not only destroyed Buddhist temples and educational institutions, but also killed hundreds of monks.
Thus by the beginning of the 18th century there were no senior monks left to ordain new monks. In 1752, the King of Sri Lanka sent emissaries to Ayuthaya, the then capital of Buddhist Siam (Thailand) asking for help. The King of Siam acceded to the request and sent a team of high-ranking monks led by Phra Upali Mahathera to Sri Lanka to re-establish the order of the sangha (monks). The Thai monks spent three years in Sri Lanka ordaining some 600 monks and 3000 novices.
Pointing out to apologies given by the Pope in the past two decades to Orthodox Christians in Europe, indigenous Canadians, the Jews and Africans for the church’s involvement in the slave trade, Sri Lankan social critic Shenali Waduge asks: “Is it too much to ask that Pope Francis arriving to a majority Buddhist nation that has not objected to the canonization of Joseph Vaz, should extend the gesture by apologizing for the crimes committed by the Church to the Buddhists in particular, as well as to the Hindus and Muslims in Sri Lanka?”
Referring to such calls by Buddhists including the Buddhists grassroots activist movement Budhu Bala Sena, the Rome-based ‘Vatican Insider’ argued in a recent commentary, that “this climate of hostility and revenge is based on a historical memory that has been manipulated in order to spread hatred and this could be problematic for the Argentinian Pope’s pilgrimage (to Sri Lanka). Anti-Christian propaganda spreads easily via the web as well as via traditional mass media”.
The Catholics are also quick to point out that Pope Francis will be visiting the famous Madhu Church in Mannar in Sri Lanka’s Tamil-dominated north-west, which was at one time occupied by the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE), a terrorist group crushed by the Sri Lankan military in May 2009.
Catholic Church’s Support for LTTE
Many Buddhists argue that the Catholic Church supported and promoted LTTE for over three decades, especially in western countries. The Bishop of Mannar Rayappu Joseph is a well-known sympathizer and supporter of the LTTE. Ironically, the Madhu Church has been built on top of ‘Pattini Devale’, a Hindu temple of the Tamils destroyed by the Portuguese. So this event is hardly symbolic of reconciliation in post-war Sri Lanka.

However, many Buddhists believe, though this is not articulated in the mainstream media, that the Catholic Church may have a secret agenda in promoting Pope’s visit at such a crucial time where pre-poll violence is on the increase.
One school of thought is that Cardinal Ranjith, who is very close to the Vatican hierarchy, as well as the Rajapakse family, may have cut a deal with the government to get the Vatican’s support to get off the UN Human Rights Council’s agenda, war crimes allegation against the Rajapakse regime. In return the regime will facilitate a great propaganda coup for the church in canonizing South Asia’s first saint, that will help to rid the church of the label in the region of an European colonial institution.
“The decision to invite the Pope was done without any public consultation,” says lawyer and Buddhist activist Senaka Weeraratne, reflecting concerns of many Buddhists in the country. “The Pope is on record expressing his glee at the inroads his religion is making into traditional Buddhist space (in Asia). Therefore, what is his hidden agenda?

Papal Bulls:The Crimes Church/Popes Ordered Kings to Commit

Papal Bulls: The crimes the Church/Popes ordered the Kings to commit

The destiny of inhabited nations changed as a result of papal bulls issued by the Roman Catholic Church and the advent of the ‘Age of Discovery’. Contrary to what history wishes us to believe, explorers and royalty were steered by the Church and the Pope. It was on orders of the Church that Christopher Columbus set sail to ‘discover’ lands already inhabited. The theory of ‘discover’ has become law on the premise that these lands though already inhabited did not have Christians. The question of the legal validity and the morality behind taking nations and territories though inhabited simply because these indigenous natives were not Christian needs to be taken up. This over 500 year dereliction of justice needs to be addressed and these nations and people need to be duly compensated and these laws need to be revoked.

Two papal bulls (Romanus Pontifex and Inter Cetera) issued by the Catholic Church changed the destiny of millions of people and their indigenous lands became confiscated and turned into Christian Empires.

The doctrine of discovery issued through the papal bulls gave orders to the King to carry out conquests and conversions and turn natives into ‘perpetual slavery’. The same Church continues to ignore and neglects to acknowledge accountability for these ‘orders’.

The ‘Laws’ in existence are all Christian. The Christian doctrine of ‘discovery’ continues still.

Many have heard of the word papal bulls but very few know much about it. Not many would know that papal bulls were issued on human skins, usually that of a sacrificed child or a famous heretic put to death.
· Papal Bull ‘Romanus Pontifex’ was issued in 1452 by Pope Nicholas V to King Alfonso V of Portugal. Pope Nicholas V ordered King Alfonso V to declare war on all non-Christians throughout the world. Pope Nicholas V sanctioned and promoted the conquest, colonization and exploitation of non-Christian nations and their territories. This order issued by a Pope was made 40 years before the supposedly ‘historic’ voyage of Christopher Columbus.

Christopher Columbus voyage in 1492 was thus on orders and to fulfil the orders given by the King and Queen who were in turn ordered by the Pope to ‘take possession’ of lands. There were no lands that were ‘discovered’ because the aim was to ‘take possession’ and have these possessed lands under the dominion of Christian rulers.

· The ‘genocide’ committed by Columbus and all others sent to ‘discover’ lands on instructions of the Catholic Church/Pope have yet to be accounted for or even acknowledged.

· These papal bulls were used by Christian European conquerors to justify the brutal system of colonization which dehumanized people in their own lands, who had their lands taken away from them and whose values, cultures, religions were denied and replaced with Christianity.

· When Columbus returned to Europe, Pope Alexander VI issued the papal bull ‘Inter Cetera’ on May 3, 1493 giving Spain the right to conquer the lands which Columbus had already found as well as any lands that Spain might ‘discover’ in future. Whether natives lived in these lands or now the papal bull enshrined the ‘discovery’ and take over of these lands. Portugal objected to Spain getting concessions and the Pope issued another papal bull declaring that each Christian nation cannot establish dominion over lands in possession of Christian lords. The Pope went on to give Portugal one side of the globe and Spain the other to ‘discover’.

· The ‘discovered’ people or rather the natives of these lands, the Pope ordered to be ‘subjugated and brought to the faith itself’ – in other words to convert them and create a ‘Christian Empire’.

· The doctrine of ‘discovery’ was made possible through a religious doctrine. We need to correct history or our misperception of the truth.

· The Catholic order against non-Christians directed by Pope Nicholas was clear ‘capture, vanquish and subdue the Saracens, pagans and other enemies of Christ’ and ‘put them into perpetual slavery’ and ‘take all their possessions and property’.

· The Papal orders by the Catholic Popes forced western nations to treat all non-Christians as non-humans. Thus the treatment towards African slaves and the manner natives of lands conquered as a result of the Papal conquest orders resulted in millions of deaths. None of the present western nations using the words ‘genocide’ have ever used the word in reference to their own acts of crimes throughout 500 years of ‘discovery’.

· The relevance of the continuity and prevalence of the Doctrine of Discovery was seen in the US Supreme Court decision of 1832 (Johnson v M’intosh) with Chief Justice John Marshall observing that Christian European nations had assumed ‘ultimate dominion’ over lands of America during the Age of Discovery and as a result of ‘Discovery’ Indians had lost ‘their rights to complete sovereignty, as independent nations’. The judgement held that Native Indians had the right of only ‘occupancy’. What it meant was simply because the Pope had ordered a decree to ‘discover’ and possess nations where all non-Christian lands would be ‘discovered’ if non-Christians were living on them all nations that the Pope sent missions to were taken over and declared ‘discovered’ and they all became under Western Christian rule with their laws applying. That these nations and lands were inhabited for centuries did not matter. How wrong is this? How right is this?

· The US judgement created a legal precedent. The Chief Justice used the English charter issued to the explorer John Cabot to establish Englands ‘complete recognition’ of the Doctrine of Discovery. US Court upheld the ‘Law of Nations’ giving rights to Christian European nations to claim lands if they did not have Christians! The lands of America were ‘unoccupied’ by Christians but they were ‘occupied’ by Indians. This clearly establishes the Christian element in the Doctrine of Discovery. The US actually used the Christian Doctrine of Discovery to disregard the human rights of the Native peoples of Americas and this hidden Christian rationale continues to be kept hidden without acknowledgement.

· The unlikelihood of Christian nations declaring that the Doctrine of Discovery is unconstitutional is a reality. The prejudiced system is nothing that the people of these Christian nations will wish to reverse or compensate though some will feel empathy upon realizing how their nations came to be ‘developed’ by stealing what did not belong to them. It is a pity that natives have paid little attention to the historical truths and have preferred to worship everything that the West stands for when the history of the West is soaked in blood – the blood of natives who fought to save their lands, who refused to convert to Christianity/Catholicism, who refused to follow alien laws and cultures when they had indigenous and distinct value systems they were proud of.

· Will the Vatican and the Pope be willing to revoke the Inter Cetera bulls of 1493 that continues to this day or overturne the Supreme Court judgement in the US of 1832? That is when TRUE INJUSTICE will be corrected. That is when the injustices to indigenous people all over the world throughout 500 years will be corrected.

The papal bulls – edits declared from the Church by the Popes created a notion that
· Christianity reigned supreme above all other religions

· People were divided into Christians and non-Christians

· Non-Christians were sub-human and uncivilized

· All lands even if occupied which were not Christian had the right to be ‘discovered’ and declared ‘Christian’ and natives were forced to convert or killed if they refused.

· White supremacy rule – indigenous people were non-white and thus the notion of white rule over black/brown and yellow people that continues to prevail.

The significance of the US Supreme Court decision was
· The US Chief Justice (John Marshall) admitted that the Christian European nations had assumed complete control over lands of America during the ‘Age of Discovery’

· The US Chief Justice noted that US inherited authority over these lands from Great Britain despite the natives occupying America beforehand. Natives were considered as heathens

· The US ruling held that Indians did not have rights as independent nations and that they were only tenants or residents of US land simply because they were non Christian/Catholic.

· The Johnson v McIntosh case remains legally valid though the victims and their views (Indian Americans) were not even taken to account.

· The Doctrine of Discovery was given a new name Manifest Destiny to defend US expansion and claims to new territory (but it is more or less one and the same) using ‘freedom and democracy’ as tools. The Doctrine of Discovery was no law created by Jesus but it became a Christian law, followed by Christian countries and continues still.

Christian leaders were told they possessed God-given right to take control of all lands and used this idea to justify war, colonization and even slavery. The effect the Church and Pope had on these invader nations was such that they committed crimes in the name of the Church!

Rightly compensation for 500 years of injustice needs to be looked at by either siphoning off debt or providing better opportunities for the developing world to develop without keeping them in debt.

A terrible injustice was done to the natives of Americas, the natives of Africa and the natives of Asia. Not stopping there, these countries that lost their land, culture, indigenous legal systems, values etc had their resources stolen and were turned into poor nations. They are kept poor through various global trade mechanisms that favour only rich industrial nations.

If the developed world are sincere they must realize the historic injustices committed and at least now help the nations that they stole from to come up. It is a moral duty. People who talk about injustices and accountability should not forget their own sins and crimes.

Kathleen Taylor, Neuroscientist, Says Religious Fundamentalism Could Be Treated As A Mental Illness

An Oxford University researcher and author specializing in neuroscience has suggested that one day religious fundamentalism may be treated as a curable mental illness.

Kathleen Taylor, who describes herself as a "science writer affiliated to the Department of Physiology, Anatomy and Genetics," made the suggestion during a presentation on brain research at the Hay Literary Festival in Wales on Wednesday.

In response to a question about the future of neuroscience, Taylor said that "One of the surprises may be to see people with certain beliefs as people who can be treated," The Times of London notes.

“Someone who has for example become radicalised to a cult ideology — we might stop seeing that as a personal choice that they have chosen as a result of pure free will and may start treating it as some kind of mental disturbance," Taylor said. “In many ways it could be a very positive thing because there are no doubt beliefs in our society that do a heck of a lot of damage."

The author went on to say she wasn't just referring to the "obvious candidates like radical Islam," but also meant such beliefs as the idea that beating children is acceptable.

Taylor was not immediately available for comment.

This is not the first time Taylor has explored the mind processes of a radical. In 2006, she wrote a book about mind control called Brainwashing: The Science of Thought Control, which explored the science behind the persuasive tactics of such groups as cults and al Qaeda.

"We all change our beliefs of course," Taylor said in a YouTube video about the book. "We all persuade each other to do things; we all watch advertising; we all get educated and experience [religions.] Brainwashing, if you like, is the extreme end of that; it's the coercive, forceful, psychological torture type."

Taylor also noted that brainwashing, though extreme, is part of a the "much more widespread phenomenon" of persuasion. That is, "how we make people think things that might not be good for them, that they might not otherwise have chosen to think."

However, Taylor has also been a voice of caution in terms of the ethics of delving too deeply into the human brain's mysterious workings.

"Technologies which directly scan or manipulate brains cannot be neutral tools, as open to commercial exploitation as any new gadget," Taylor wrote in a blog post for The Huffington Post in 2012. "The brain supremacy offers chances to improve human dignity, but it also risks abuse."

Public School Proselytizing Sparks Lawsuit in Miss. USA

The Rankin County, Miss., School District is facing a federal lawsuit because it allegedly sanctioned coercive proselytizing during three mandatory assemblies at Northwest Rankin High School in Flowood.

The American Humanist Association (AHA) charged that Principal Charles Frazier and other school officials required students to attend events that featured a fundamentalist Christian video, proselytizing and prayer.

According to the legal complaint in M.B. v. Rankin County School District, Frazier sent an email to all faculty on April 9 ordering them to send all members of the senior class to a school hall for the religious event.

Students were not told the subject of the assembly. When some realized it was a proselytizing event, they tried to leave but were prevented from doing so by a school truancy officer, as well as teachers and parents who were present for the preaching.

Students were shown a video that featured four young men who struggled with personal problems but found a solution in conversion to Christianity. When the video concluded, a student affiliated with the Pinelake Baptist Church told the assembled students that they must turn to Jesus Christ to find hope.

School officials are now claiming the events were student-sponsored, student-led and voluntary, but the AHA isn’t buying it.

“It is clear that these assemblies are put on by the school itself,” said William Burgess, legal coordinator of the AHA’s Appignani Humanist Legal Center. “They were staged in a school room, during the school day and the school sent an email to teachers telling them that students were required to attend.”
